Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing Activities

Since fiscal year 2005, we at Maxell Group have been continuously promoting "Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing" activities aimed at reducing environmental impact throughout the entire product lifecycle. These activities also comply with global environmental regulations and eliminate harmful chemicals from our products.

Promotion of the Product Chemical Substance Control System

Based on the "Product Chemical Substance Management Standards" established in our "Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing Regulations," we properly manage harmful chemicals. We have created and implemented "Control Standards for Handling Chemical Substances in Products, Parts and Materials" for our suppliers. Based on the information on chemical substances contained in purchased parts and materials, we practice the following four items:

1. 1.Do not use harmful substances (Green Procurement)
2. 2.Do not develop products containing harmful substances (Environmentally Conscious Design)
3. 3.Do not ship products containing harmful substances (Product Individual Management)
4. 4.In case of an issue, identify the product within 24 hours and grasp the scope of the impact within 48 hours
   (Crisis Management)

By identifying and managing the prohibited and controlled chemical substances defined by Maxell Group in procured parts and shipped products, we eliminate harmful chemicals from our products. In fiscal year 2007, we conducted a mock drill on the inclusion of harmful chemicals to verify the effectiveness of our chemical substance management.

Control Standards for Handling Chemical Substances

Implementation of These Standards　These standards apply from the earlier of the enforcement date of the relevant laws or the publication date of these standards. However, if we request the prohibition of chemical substances before the enforcement date of the laws, we will individually determine from which materials the standards will apply through consultation.
