We are committed to reducing the environmental impact on the Earth and achieving a sustainable society by prohibiting, reducing, or properly managing the chemical substances contained in the products we manufacture and sell. In response to the RoHS Directive (Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment), we have completely eliminated the six hazardous substances (lead, hexavalent chromium, mercury, cadmium, PBB, PBDE) from products intended for the European market and are working towards eliminating them from all products. Additionally, on June 4, 2015, (EU) 2015/863 was published, replacing Annex II of 2011/65/EU, expanding the list of restricted substances from six to ten. The four additional substances are phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP). We have also completely eliminated these additional substances from products intended for the European market and are working towards eliminating them from all products.

・Batteries that comply with the revised EU Battery Directive (2013/56/EU) are exempt from the RoHS Directive. As all Maxell batteries comply with the revised EU Battery Directive, they are exempt from the RoHS Directive.

* RoHS Directive: Restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment in the EU. Initially, it covered cadmium, lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB, and PBDE. From July 22, 2019, it also includes four phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP).

* Revised EU Battery Directive (2013/56/EU): Revised in November 2013, prohibits the sale of batteries with more than 0.0005% mercury by weight and more than 0.002% cadmium by weight.

Regulation Start Dates: The RoHS Directive classifies products with electrical and electronic equipment into 11 categories and regulates them.
