Sustainable Procurement
Maxell Group established the Maxell Group Code of Conduct in 1983 in order to systematically and continuously promote sustainable procurement activities. The Code clearly defines the mission and role of the Group and serves as a guideline for specific actions. Recognizing that companies are members of society, we conduct our corporate activities with fairness and transparency, while striving to contribute to the realization of a truly prosperous society through harmony with the environment and proactive social contribution activities.
Based on this philosophy, Maxell Group established the Maxell Group CSR Activity Policy in April 2005. All executives and employees of Maxell Group recognize that fulfilling social responsibilities is an integral part of corporate activities and act to contribute to the sustainable development of society and business.
To promote sustainable procurement activities, it is necessary for our procurement partners, with whom we conduct business activities together, to share an awareness of social responsibility and work together with us. We believe that such efforts will lead to the realization of mutual prosperity throughout the entire supply chain. To deepen mutual understanding with our procurement partners and provide guidance for their sustainable procurement activities, we established the Maxell Group Supply Chain CSR Procurement Guidelines in 2018 based on the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct.
These Guidelines describe the attitudes and standards of conduct expected of our procurement partners in seven areas: Labor, Health and Safety, Environment, Ethics, Quality and Information Security, Management Systems, and Self-Assessment. We have already asked our procurement partners to promote sustainable procurement activities, and we appreciate their continued understanding and cooperation in further advancing these activities.
Requests to Our Procurement Partners
We would like to ask our procurement partners to regularly evaluate their performance in the areas specified in the CSR Procurement Guidelines, including Labor, Health and Safety, Environment, Ethics, Quality and Information Security, and Management Systems. In addition, we may provide support as necessary.
To that end, we ask them to respond to the periodic questionnaires sent by the Procurement & SCM Department. The results of these assessments are published annually on the Maxell website.
In addition, procurement partners with low self-assessment ratings in these periodic evaluations are requested to submit an improvement plan. If improvement requests are not addressed, or if identified issues remain unresolved after a specified period of time, there may be a possibility of reviewing future business transactions. We appreciate continued efforts to strengthen initiatives within each company.
